A new term is being used by up-to-date medical doctors.  It's Functional Medicine.  That means that they don't want to treat symptoms they want to find out 'WHY' a person has what they have.   It's funny, I've been doing that since 1978 when I began practice.  Most chiropractors have been doing that since 1895. 

The standard in Allopathic Medicine, normal health care by medical doctors, is to measure Dysfunction and to treat the symptoms that are manifesting.  If the sympotms get bad enough, a disease is named and treated, most commonly with drugs or surgery.  A Funcitonal Doctor measures the Function or Harmony of the organs and systems of the body and uses nutrition and other natural treatments to allow Optimal Functioning of the Organs and Systems.  My goal is to idenity less than optimal values of organs and systems, treat them naturally and prevent them from degenerating to the point of dys-function or dis-ease.

So, to make it simple I call it Functional Wellness Care.   The use of the word Function is the key.  We are measuring through analysis using urine, saliva, hair and muscle response testing to determine the function, health and ability of specific organs and systems to carry out their jobs as perfectly as possible.  We do not want to wait until there is a dis-ease or a diagnosed disease to implement treatment.  That is like waiting to fill up your car with gas until you are totally empty!  The standard of Medical Care is to diagnose a disease and treat the disease, or in many cases, the symptoms of the disease to relieve pain and suffering.
