You’ve been told your child has ADD/ADHD. NOW WHAT?
Are drugs the answer?
Is a better eating and drinking habit the answer?
Is there really anything you can do?
First, there is something you can do about it.
But, you answer these two questions!
1) How important is this to me as a parent?
2) I’m I willing to change so that my child gets better?
If you answered: 1)This is important to me and 2) I’m willing to change for my child, then we can help.
Second, eating and drinking certain substance have been shown to create problems for those with ADD/ADHD. This research has been done by both sides of the controversy of whether to use drugs or not. The research is favorable to better eating and drinking, from both sides. In fact, do your own research and see it for yourself.
Last, review the drug’s side effects and realize that 1% is 1 out of every 100. That’s too high of a risk for me or my child and I rather do the safer things first.
Some helpful hints:
I. Feed your child better. There are certain foods that work better with certain blood types. We’ll help you to find what is the best foods for your child. In general, for breakfast, keep them off of the cereals and get them protein. Chicken fingers, eggs, turkey bacon, peanut/almond butter and whole grain toast, cheese and toast, and oatmeal. My 8 year old loves an egg burrito. Scrambled egg with cheese and turkey bacon wrapped in a tortilla. Be creative and get your child involved.
You may need to do what we do. My wife will cook more than enough for the meal. Now, we have leftovers for another meal or two. These can be used for any meal. You also need to use organic produce as much as possible. Again, the research shows this, but don’t take my word, find out yourself!
What are they drinking? Are they drinking artificial drinks or the real juice? How about water? Fresh filtered water is very important and a necessity for our body to be healthy.
II. Another very important item is vitamins. Our food supply is very deficient in nutrients. So, a multivitamin supplement is necessary. I have my favorite and if you have yours bring it in and we’ll test it.
III. Correction of their allergies and sensitivities is next. Can you imagine having a cold and trying to work out a problem. You can’t think straight and it will probably take a longer time to complete your task. That’s how allergies effect us even if there is no sinus drainage. Allergies and sensitivities do respond with different symptoms.
IV. Removing toxicity is another area to address. Toxins create problems for our body. Toxins come from many different sorces: air, food, water and other substances. The body then has to deal with the overload of toxicity and our normal everyday problems. This overload drags our body down and we are now more susceptible to diseases and other bad conditions.
V. Are they, like almost everyone else, getting electrically polluted? We may have an easy solution. Our world has never before seen so much electricity. Cell phones, cell phone towers, micro-waves ovens, micro-wave radio transmissions, computers, TV’s, fluorescent lights, radar, electric power transmission lines, home appliances, cordless phones, etc... This does effect us, especially in a child size body.
VI. Is their organs and nervous systems working to it’s best? Deficiencies caused from poor eating habits and poor food do cause health issues. So, we have to fix these deficiencies and correct the organs and nervous system.
VII. Have you set up games for them to play and win at? I’m not talking about baseball, I’m taking about grades on test. Have fun with them. Imagine a ’C’ student now a ’B+’ student. Give them something to be motivated by. Maybe all the child wants is to go to see a movie or dinner at the pizza place. Or maybe it’s a new bat or soccer ball. Set up the game and then determine the correct prize. A ‘B+’ for the year is worth a lot more than a ‘B+’ on one test. But, make sure you do what you can to help them win.
VIII. Make sure you put it in writing. Both you and the child date, sign and put what the goal is and what the prize is. Be specific with the goal and prize (pictures work best) and don’t go back on your word.
In our journey toward health we will handle at least six areas that will make a person as well as they can be. The ‘we’ is you, your child and my staff and I. My staff and I can not do it alone. If you and your child are willing, then we’re willing. This task will be lots of fun and eye opening at the same time. But, are you ready? We have been and are making changes without drugs and the harmful effects for years. But, more importantly, the longer you wait the more damage is done and the longer it will take to fix. Of course, the more that has to be done increases the cost too!
